New Default Interest Rate

New Default Interest Rate From July 1, 2022

In the Official Gazette no. 75/22 the average interest rate on loans granted for a period longer than one year to non-financial corporations calculated for the reference period from July 1, 2022, to December 31, 2022, is published. The stated average interest rate is 2,31%.

The Law on Obligations determines the interest rate by increasing the stated average interest rate by 5 percentage points on relations from trade contracts and contracts between a trader and a public entity, and in other relations by 3 percentage points.

The following is an overview of default interest rates for the second half of 2022:

in relations between traders and persons under public law 7,31%(2,31% + 5%)
in relations between entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs and persons under public law when the person under public law is the debtor of a monetary obligation 7,31%(2,31% – 3% + 8%)
in other relations 5,31% (2,31% + 3%)
